Criminal Competition Act Amendments Come into Force June 23rd – Increased Fines and New Offences

The criminal amendments to the Competition Act will take effect on June 23, 2023. These amendments were passed on June 23, 2022, through Bill C-19, also known as the Budget Implementation Act, 2022, No.1.

These amendments bring significant changes to Canada’s federal Competition Act, encompassing higher civil and criminal penalties, new restrictions on drip pricing, and expanded private access to the Competition Tribunal for cases involving abuse of dominance, among other provisions.
