Julian Pena

Julian is a lawyer from Universidad Católica Argentina. He joined Allende & Brea in 2004 and is the partner in charge of the antitrust practice of the firm since in 2007.Between 1996 and 2004 he was an advisor to the Ministry of Economy, having advised different Ministers, Secretaries of Industry and Commerce and of Coordination. He has also worked in the National Commission for the Defense of Competition from 1999 to 2001. Previously he was stagiaire of the European Commission in Brussels in 1996.

He is professor at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella’s Masters on Law and Economics, was a visiting professor at the University of Florida in 2009, and professor at the Graduate Program of Universidad de Buenos Aires (2004/2018), among others. Julián has published two books and has published many articles and given numerous conferences around the world on competition law.

Julian is founder and moderator of “ForoCompetencia” (www.ForoCompetencia.com), an e-group focused on competition issues with more than 1200 members from the public, private and academic sectors of 25 countries. He is currently Vice-Chair of the Antitrust Committee of the International Bar Association, Vice-Chair of the International Comments & Policy Committee of the Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association and member of the Advisory Board of the Fordham Competition Law Institute and of the American Antitrust Institute.
