Elizabeth Kraus, a previous attorney for the US Federal Trade Commission, has been announced to join the Antitrust Center of Expertise at Walmart, as stated in an email announcement from the company.
Suzan Wachsstock, Chief Counsel for Antitrust Legal and Compliance at Walmart, stated that Kraus’s extensive experience will be highly beneficial in overseeing Walmart’s global antitrust compliance program and providing advice on competition-related matters.
Kraus’s background includes over 27 years of experience in antitrust law and established relationships within the field.

Kraus has been assigned to report to Wachsstock on May 8. Prior to this, she held the position of U.S. deputy director for international antitrust in the Office of International Affairs, as well as the roles of counsel to the director of the FTC’s bureau of competition and counsel for multilateral affairs.
She was responsible for developing and executing the FTC’s international strategy, representing the agency in discussions with competition regulators globally, and leading the team that coordinated the agency’s international antitrust policy and bilateral cooperation work.
She collaborated with competition agencies worldwide to create guidance on various topics, including competition in the digital economy, merger notification procedures, and assessing dominance/substantial market power. The aim was to ensure effective and sound antitrust policy and enforcement.
