Virginia Solicitor General Maybe Up For Republica FTC Role

Virginia Solicitor General Andrew Ferguson may be considered as a Republican commissioner for the Federal Trade Commission, according to Bloomberg.

Andrew Ferguson is a former aide to Senate Republican Mitch McConnell. While aMcConnell staffer, Ferguson was responsible for judicial confirmations, including that of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. He previously worked for Republican Senators Chuck Grassley of Iowa and Lindsay Graham of South Carolina.

This news comes after Christine Wilson, the sole Republican on the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), said earlier this week that she will resign soon. Wilson did not give a date of her resignation in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal.

The FTC has had a 3-1 Democratic majority since former Republican Commissioner Noah Phillips left the agency in October.
