Holwell Shuster & Goldberg announced on Monday, January 14, that Jayme Jonat has been named partner.
Jonat has represented clients in numerous high-profile antitrust and securities fraud class actions, including her defense of Visa in antitrust litigation against many of the world’s largest retailers, and her representation of the state-owned investment firm Alberta Investment Management Corporation in connection with its claims in several universal life insurance cases.
She also regularly works on large-scale internal investigations. “Jayme is an absolute star,” said Richard Holwell, co-founder of the firm and former judge in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. “Her judgment, demeanor, and insights are invaluable to clients in high-stakes litigation and investigations. We are thrilled to welcome her to the partnership.”
Jayme’s active pro bono work has included the successful appeal of a felony conviction as well as a cutting-edge workplace discrimination case on behalf of pregnant and breastfeeding pilots and flight attendants. After graduating magna cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, she clerked for the Honorable Arthur Spatt of the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She began her career in private practice at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
