US: GN Netcom loses antitrust suit against Plantronics

A federal jury ruled in favor of Plantronics last week to close a lawsuit worth as much as US$600 million.

The lawsuit was filed five years ago by GN Netcom when it alleged that Plantronics was monopolizing the market by using “Plantronics-only distributors” to sell its commercial headsets to call centers and other industry customers.

Plantronics’ attorney emphasized that GN never identified customers, called “end users” in the lawsuit, from which it was prevented from making a sale.

Plantronics CEO Joe Burton said the verdict “validates our position that Plantronics has always operated fairly and lawfully in a highly competitive marketplace and that the claims brought by GN Netcom are without merit.”
