Baker McKenzie announced two leadership appointments in its premier Antitrust & Competition Practice. First, Washington, DC-based partner Mark Hamer has been appointed chair of the Global Antitrust & Competition Practice.
Mark previously served as chair of the North America Antitrust & Competition Practice and as a member of the Firm’s Global Antitrust Steering Committee. Second, Creighton Macy, a partner also based in Washington, DC, has been appointed to serve as the group’s North America chair.
For two decades, Mark has represented clients in antitrust litigation, civil and criminal investigations by antitrust enforcers, and in merger clearance matters. Creighton also represents clients in a wide variety of complex antitrust matters, including mergers and acquisitions, antitrust agency investigations, antitrust litigation, and antitrust counselling and compliance. Previously, both Mark and Creighton served as trial attorneys in the Antitrust Division of the US Department of Justice, and immediately before joining Baker in 2017, Creighton served as its chief of staff and senior counsel.
As Global Chair, Mark will lead the largest Antitrust & Competition practice in the world with over 300 practitioners across 60 offices in 43 countries globally. The award-winning team is ranked by Chambers among the top global competition practices, and as a Top 5 Global Elite competition practice by Global Competition Review for five years in a row.
In antitrust conduct matters, Baker’s team has recently represented clients in the EU’s Forex cartel investigation, in the trial of the first case ever brought by the Hong Kong Competition Commission, and in the railway industry no-poach class action litigation in the US.
