UK: FCA chair to head competition watchdog?

According to Sky news, the outgoing Financial Conduct Autority (FCA) chairman John Griffith-Jones, has been shortlisted to head the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) even as the audit firm where he spent most of his career faces demands to be broken up.

Sky News has learnt that Mr Griffith-Jones, who steps down as the (FCA) chairman next month, is among a handful of candidates to succeed Lord Currie at the CMA.

His inclusion on a shortlist submitted to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy  has surprised some in Whitehall.

Mr Griffith-Jones spent 37 years at KPMG, where he rose to become joint chairman of its European business.
