JD Sports Fashion said on Thursday the UK Competition & Markets Authority has approved JD’s acquisition of Go Outdoors Topco completing the regulator’s investigation into the merger.
Sportswear retailer JD Sports bought outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Go Outdoors in November for GBP112.3 million (USD 145.3 M).
Go Outdoors owns 58 stores across the UK, the majority of which are situated in out-of-town retail parks.
JD Sports also operates outdoor businesses Blacks, Millets, Ultimate Outdoors and Tiso, which between them trade from 182 stores across the UK.
“I am pleased with the outcome of the CMA’s investigation and delighted to welcome Go Outdoors to the JD group. Go Outdoors will make an excellent addition to the existing JD Outdoor business and I am confident that it will build upon Blacks’, Millets’ and Tiso’s recent success on the high street and strengthen our consumer proposition within the Outdoor sector,” Chief Executive Peter Cowgill said in a statement.
