Apple’s Irish honeymoon just got extended. In a major move that showcases its expansion plans in Europe, the tech giant announced the creation of 1,000 jobs, along with construction of a new building facility in Ireland. Ireland Prime Minister Enda Kenny announced the news in a tweet, after he met Apple CEO Tim Cook, earlier this morning, as per the latter’s European tour schedule this week.
The plan will take effect in Cork, Ireland – the city that serves as is the iPhone-maker’s European headquarters. At present, both Ireland and Apple are under investigation by the European Union’s antitrust regulators for alleged tax avoidance practices.
