Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is hiring Evan Turnage as Chief Counsel. Turnage is currently Senior Counsel for Competition Policy in Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office, boasting extensive anti-trust chops and progressive credentials. This hiring is confirmed by Turnage and will take effect later this week, reported Politico.
Turnage’s new role has expanded beyond competition issues, which may ease progressive worries about the lack of progress with a set of antitrust reforms directed at Google, Apple, Meta, and Amazon. These frustrations have mainly been aimed at Senator Schumer, who promised to hold a vote on the bills last year but did not fulfill his promise.
