According to COFECE the draft “Decree amending and adding the Regulations of the Airports Law” and the “General Bases for the Allocation of Airport Landing and Take-Off Times in Saturation Conditions”, prepared by the Ministry of Communications and Transportation ( SCT), contain elements that could have negative effects on competition in the aviation industry in Mexico,.
COFECE has therefore issued a recommendation to the Federal Regulatory Improvement Commission not to exempt The SCT of their obligation to present a High Impact Regulatory Impact Statement (MIR), for each normative draft, as proposed by the Ministry.
In a statement COFECE said “The reforms proposed by the SCT could generate discretion, uncertainty and little transparency in slot allocation procedures in saturated airports of our country.”
