The Federal Economic Competition Commission (Cofece) sanctioned Interjet & HBC International, after neither of the two companies notified the agency in a timely manner about their acquisition.
Despite the fact that the transaction was authorized by the regulator, it does not work with the provisions regarding competition and free competition process, said the commission.
According to Cofece, in June 2020 Interjet made an increase in its share capital, which was contributed by HBC, which resulted in the acquisition of part of the airline.
However, it was until August of the same year that both companies informed the regulator.
