On Friday, Italy’s antitrust authority announced that it has initiated an inquiry into Enel, the largest utility company in the country, regarding potential misuse of its dominant position in the provision of electric vehicle charging stations.
According to the statement, Enel’s Enel X Way, Enel X Way Italia, and Ewiva units are involved in the probe.
Ewiwa and Volkswagen AG have formed a joint venture.

Enel stated in a written communication that their subsidiaries consistently comply with regulations and are optimistic about proving the legality and propriety of their actions to the antitrust agency.
Enel announced its plan to increase the number of electric-vehicle chargers by over 10,000 in the U.S. and 2 million in North America by 2030 on Thursday.
