Latham & Watkins is losing a Germany antitrust partner, Georg Weidenbach, to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher less than a month after four corporate partners departed the firm’s Düsseldorf office.
“We’re delighted to welcome Georg to Gibson Dunn,” said Ken Doran, Chairman and Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn. “He is an experienced and highly regarded antitrust lawyer who will be a strong addition to our market-leading competition practice across the globe and to our German and European practices in particular.”
“I’m pleased that Georg is joining our team in Frankfurt,” said Dirk Oberbracht, Partner in Charge of the Frankfurt Office. “Georg is one of the leading antitrust lawyers in Germany, with significant depth of experience in cartel damage claims and cartel investigations and defense. His experience will not only strengthen our leading European cartel practice, but will also nicely complement our premiere litigation practice.”
“I’m thrilled to join Gibson Dunn,” said Weidenbach. “I look forward to contributing to Gibson Dunn’s highly respected global antitrust and competition platform as I begin the next phase of my career. I’m also excited to work alongside such an excellent group of lawyers here in Germany, Brussels and globally, as the firm’s reputation for having a truly collaborative culture precedes it.”
Weidenbach’s practice focuses on European and German antitrust and competition law. He regularly advises clients on cartel investigations and related cartel damage claims, merger control, compliance programs and audits, distribution/licensing, and abuse of dominance.
