FTC Chair Negotiating Leave Extension From Columbia Law

Khan, who has been known for her enforcement of antitrust laws, intends to continue serving as the chair of the US Federal Trade Commission for at least one more year, as per information provided by an agency representative to Bloomberg News.

Despite facing criticism from House Republicans for her stance against big business and two GOP commissioners blaming her for their resignations, she remains committed to staying. Additionally, there have been rumors circulating about her potential departure.

‘I fully intend to continue serving,’ Khan told a House panel.

Last month leaders of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission said the agency would pursue companies who misuse artificial intelligence to violate laws against discrimination or be deceptive.

In a congressional hearing, FTC Chair Lina Khan and Commissioners Rebecca Slaughter and Alvaro Bedoya were asked about concerns that recent innovation in artificial intelligence, which can be used to produce high quality deep fakes, could be used to make more effective scams or otherwise violate laws.
