Thierry Breton, the EU industry chief, informed that he had a conversation with Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of TikTok, and advised that the Chinese-owned social network needs to fulfill EU regulations, reported Reuters.
“I told him that, as of now, there is still a lot of room for improvement, in terms of having more content moderation, avoiding excesses, guaranteeing a safe use of data, in particular, the data of our children”, Breton told France 2 television.
Several Western countries, including the United States, Britain, and some European Union member states, have limited the usage of TikTok due to security concerns.

Nineteen major online platforms, including TikTok, were identified by the EU last month and will be subject the Digital Services Act (DSA) starting in August. The DSA is a new set of rules for online content.
The regulations mandate that businesses perform risk assessments, engage in external and independent audits, collaborate with authorities and researchers by sharing data, and implement a code of conduct.
Breton had previously suggested that TikTok align its operations with the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA) a few months ago.
