EU-India: First competition week

European Commission Directorate-General for Competition (DG COMP) initiated a technical cooperation program called EU-Competition Cooperation Project in Asia this year. The Competition Cooperation Project aims to enhance cooperation between DG COMP and its counterparts in Asia, including India.

As part of the Competition Cooperation Project, first EU-India Competition Week was organized during December 10-13, 2018, at the Competition Commission of India’s (CCI) office in Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi. Competition Week commenced with opening remarks from Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of the European Union to India and Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairperson, CCI.

The deliberations during the Competition Week provided insights on various issues related to competition law and policy by the Resource Persons from EU competition authorities and the CCI. The Competition Week exposed the officers of the CCI to international best practices and is an important program under the Commission’s capacity building initiatives. Mr Augustine Peter, Member, CCI & Mr Torben Toft, Senior Expert, DG COMP, European Commission delivered the closing remarks.
