Brazil’s competition authority has ruled that taxi drivers did not bring sham litigation and coordinate threats against Uber drivers in an attempt to drive them out of the market.
In the investigation, taxi drivers were suspected of using abusive means to exclude and bar Uber’s entry into the passenger transport market, including violence and threats to drivers and customers of the company.
In October Cade’s general superintendence had recommended filing the case on the understanding that there was insufficient evidence against taxi drivers.
The Federal Public Prosecutor also requested the filing of the investigation. “All the opinions are converging towards the filing of the case and I agree with their grounds,” said the rapporteur of the case, Mauricio Maia, during the trial.
