CADE, Brazil’s antitrust regulator, has sent questionnaires to cryptocurrency exchanges which had their bank accounts closed, an action that prompted the crypto-exchanges to sue the banks and complain to CADE about the actions.
CADE opened an ongoing investigation into the banks’ practices and has sent the questionnaires to ten companies: Bitcoin Market, Bitcambio, BitcoinTrade, Foxbit, Walltime, Braziliex, BitBlue, Open Digital Capital (OTC), e-juno, and Profitfy.
The companies were informed that they have until October 19 to complete the questionnaires and they will be fined up to 100,000 reals (US$25,708) if they do not turn in the questionnaires.
Brazilian crypto outlet Portal do Bitcoin wrote that the crypto-exchanges need to identify the person answering the questions and that anonymity is not allowed.
