Wenche Wang

Dr. Wenche Wang is an assistant professor of Sport Management at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology. Prior to her time at U-M, Dr. Wang was a postdoctoral associate in the Informatics Institute & Department of Economics at the University of Florida, where she also earned her PhD in Economics.

Dr. Wang has broad research interest in the economics of sports, focusing primarily on two-sided markets and antitrust policy. She has published in multiple journals, including Information & Management, Review of Industrial Organization, Sustainable Development, Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport, Managerial and Decision Economics, Antitrust Bulletin, Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law, and University of Miami Law Review. She has also published book chapters in The Cambridge Handbook of Antitrust, Intellectual Property, and High Tech and Optimization Methods and Applications. Dr. Wang has presented at prominent conferences such as the Southern Economic Association Meeting, the Western Economic Association Meeting, the International Industrial Organization Conference, the European Association for Research in Industrial Economics, the Asian Meeting of the Econometric Society, the European Sport Economic Association Conference, and Marketing Science.

Currently, Dr. Wang is researching antitrust issues pertaining to the monopsony power of the NCAA cartel, licensing intellectual property rights and restrictions on online ticket resales in professional leagues. She is also working on the impact of the use of social media in sports on consumer and social welfare.
