Dr. Vanessa Yanhua Zhang is a Managing Director at Global Economics Group and a Senior Research Fellow at the Market & Regulation Law Center (MRLC) of Renmin University. Her main research areas include industrial organization and economics analysis in competition policy, and she leads the firm’s Greater China Practice, providing expert opinions on various competition issues in Greater China, the U.S. and E.U. She has worked a wide range of competition matters involving allegations of monopolization, foreclosure practices, vertical restraints, merger analysis and intellectual property. She has consulted on projects across various industries, such as transportation, chemical, e-commerce, payment card, banking, pharmaceutical, high tech, electricity, telecommunication, and consumer products etc.
She is the author of several academic articles on China’s merger control and Anti-Monopoly Law (AML), economic analysis of competition policy, conspiracies, electricity market.
Dr Zhang serves as a Senior Research Fellow at Market and Regulation Law Center (MRLC) of Renmin University of China and has taught regulation and antitrust economics to graduate students. She is also the Editor of the Asia Competition Column at Competition Policy International, the Special Editor of Antitrust Chronicle, and a member of the latter’s Advisory Board. Prior to joining Global Economics Group (GlobalEcon), Dr Zhang took various positions at Law and Economics Consulting Group (LECG) and worked as a visiting researcher at CPB Netherland Bureau for Economic Policy Analysis.
