Takako Onoki
Takako Onoki joined White & Case in January 2008 and specializes in antitrust/competition law matters, including advising and representing clients in relation to Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) investigations for cartels and unilateral conduct. She represented a client in connection with the first JFTC hearing decision on abuse of superior bargaining position after the surcharge system was introduced, where she succeeded in arguing for a substantial reduction in the surcharge and partial cancellation of cease-and-desist order.
She also has experience in global antitrust/competition law matters, including US Department of Justice's criminal cartel investigation and US and Canadian civil class actions against Japanese companies.
She advises clients on merger regulation matters including submission of pre-notification with the JFTC. She works on global merger regulation cases with our NY and DC and Brussels offices.
She regularly attends trade association meetings in the pharmaceutical sector and provides advice from compliance perspective. She also provides compliance trainings.
Prior to joining White & Case, Ms. Onoki worked in Japanese law firms from 2004 to 2007 where she worked extensively on litigation matters. She also taught in the law school of Sophia University from 2008 to 2011.
She is educated in Japan and the United States, and speaks Japanese and English.
She is a member of the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, and the Competition Law International Editorial Board.
