Subhomoy Bhattacharjee is Consulting Editor with the Business Standard newspaper. He is also Senior Adjunct Fellow (energy sector) at RIS, a think tank which works closely with the ministries of external affairs, finance and commerce. He is also Adjunct Faculty, teaching Economics at OP Jindal Global University.
He works on public policy, primarily finance, energy and geopolitical issues. His latest book “India’s Coal Story”, traces how India’s coal reserves was at the centre of a major political scandal that nearly sent a Prime Minister to jail. It explores the tussle since Independence between Indian business and government on energy policy & sketches the options for India's future energy security. His earlier book was “Special Economic Zones in India; Myths and Realities” (co-authored).
