Dr. Sophie Gappa is a senior policy officer in the Competition Unit of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. For the German Government she leads the negotiations on the Digital Markets Act.
Sophie also worked on the amendment to the German Cartel Act and in particular the new rule for large digital players (§19a GWB). Prior to joining the competition community, Sophie focused on trade policy working for the Ministry and the European Commission. Sophie is a lawyer and holds a PhD in world trade law (University of Münster).
