Michael Hammock

Mike Hammock is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Economics, and the Administrative Director of the economics undergraduate program. He currently teaches large sections of Principles of Micro and Macro, up to 2,000 students per year. He also teaches Law and Economics once per year. He constantly experiments with new classroom technologies to enhance student participation, attendance, and learning.

He earned his B.S. in economics at Berry College, and an M.S. in economics at Texas A&M University, before going to Emory University to get a Ph.D. in Economics. He taught at Rhodes College, and then at Middle Tennessee State University, where he taught both regular economics classes and in the MTSU Honors College, and revived the Economics Club. Mike is currently the faculty advisor for the Economics Club at FSU. Mike’s research interests include Law and Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Choice, and Economic Pedagogy.
