Matthew Bennett is a Vice President at Charles River Associates. Prior to joining CRA, Matthew served as the Director of Economics at the Office of Fair Trading in the United Kingdom where he was responsible for the economic policy, financial analysis, statistics and econometrics teams. His remit included supervising the economic review of OFT cases, commissioning economic research, and developing the OFT's economic approach to competition and consumer policy. During his time at the OFT he advised on competition cases involving the banking, construction, retail, and tobacco industries, as well as several Chapter I and II investigations.
Prior to the OFT Matthew was a principal at LECG and has also worked for the UK Communications Regulator OFCOM within the Chief Economist's team. Matthew has authored several papers in the area of competition and consumer policy, most recently in the area of information exchange, RPM and consumer contracts.
Matthew earned his PhD degree in Economics from the University of Warwick and completed his Post-Doctorate in Economics from the Toulouse School of Economics.
