Marc van der Woude practices EU (competition) law since 1984. He joined the Brussels bar as a private practitioner in 1995, after having spent three years in academia and eight years in the European administration (DG Competition, Legal Secretary Court of Justice and Member of the Commission’s Legal Service). His practice focuses on European economic law with a strong focus on competition law and energy law. His clients include energy companies, petroleum companies, a large paper manufacturer, national governments, international institutions and other law firms.
Alongside his practise in Stibbe, Marc is a professor in competition law at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He regularly publishes on competition law and regulatory issues. Marc is also a member of the editorial board of SEW, which is the leading Dutch journal on economic law.
Other activities include his membership of the Algemene Energie Raad, which is an advisory body to the Dutch government and parliament. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the NV Gasunie in Groningen.
