Isabel Pereira Alves has a law degree from the Faculty of Law of theUniversity of Porto (Portugal) and a Master degree in European Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium).
After four years in private practice in a Brussels law firm, Isabel joined the European Commission in 2013, as a case handler working primarily on antitrust enforcement on the basic industries, manufacturing and consumer goods sectors. In 2018, Isabel joined the unit responsible for antitrust case support and policy in DG Competition. Among other areas of focus, she is part of the team responsible for the review of the Vertical Block Exemption Regulation.
