Eithne McCarthy is Lead Competition Counsel, General Counsel's Division, at Financial Conduct Authority. Dual qualified in the Republic of Ireland and England and Wales with an academic background in law and economics. On qualification as a solicitor in 1999, she spent four years at international law firm, Allen & Overy specialising in EC and competition law in their Brussels and London offices before joining the UK competition authority (OFT) as a senior legal and policy adviser. She is currently seconded to the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission where she specialises in financial services.
