Paku Khan is Executive Director in both Khaitan & Co US Desk and Competition/Antitrust practice groups. He is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, US and New Delhi.
Paku is one of the most experienced competition law experts in the country and was educated in the US, having attended Vanderbilt Law School for his law degree. He has more than 27 years of competition, merger control, corporate and related litigation experience. He has practiced competition law in both the US and the EU, having also served as a competition regulator in both these jurisdictions. Prior to joining Khaitan & Co, Paku was the Director of competition law at Amarchand Mangaldas from 2010 to 2012.
Paku brings with him considerable global experience in cartels and abuse of dominance cases, having worked on such cases in several countries around the world, including the US and Ireland.
Paku has been acclaimed for his competition law experience by publications such as the International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists, Chambers & Partners, and the Indian Business Law Journal. He has been involved as a lead or key lawyer/consultant on numerous complex merger cases in India, the EU, and the US, including Ryanair’s attempted acquisitions of the Irish airline Aer Lingus and Heineken's acquisition of parts of Scottish & Newcastle apart from his work in Ireland.
In addition to his competition/antitrust law work, he also has a principal focus in serving as co-ordinator for the Firm’s US Desk, covering a variety of areas for the Firm.
