André is a partner and competition specialist based in Herbert Smith Freehills' London office, who advises clients on all aspects of EU and UK competition law. He supports clients on the full range of competition work – merger control, antitrust investigations, advisory matters and disputes before the UK CMA and the European Commission, including before the English and EU courts.
He advises clients across a broad range of sectors, but has a particular interest in the financial services, fast-moving consumer goods and digital sectors. Internationally, in addition to working closely with the Herbert Smith Freehills network to provide advice on multi-jurisdictional transactions and investigations,
André has particular expertise in advice relating to India, South Africa and other developing jurisdictions. He is a member of the Competition Section Executive Committee of the Law Society of England and Wales, and teaches competition law at Cambridge University.
André studied at the University of Pretoria (B.Com(Law)) and St. Catharine's College, Cambridge University (MA Law), and is fluent in English and Afrikaans.
