Amir Nabil is the former Chairman of the Egyptian Competition Authority; Partner for Trade & Competition at Ibrachy & Dermarkar Law Firm. He has international experience in trade and commercial legal matters. His expertise covers areas of IP licensing, franchise and other form of commercial agreements. He is among the few Egyptian expertise in the area of competition and economic regulation handling complex merger and acquisition cases and related economic matters in the field. He also advised leading digital companies on matters related to compliance with data protection regulations in the MENA region. He has solid experience in advising businesses in Pharmaceutical, Digital and Tech industries.
He litigated landmark cases in the area of broadcasting of sports rights and restrictive licensing practices rights’ owners. His successful won several cases against companies such as beIN sports, Lagardere, CAF and FIFA ensuring his clients have a wide access to broadcasting rights. He also successfully litigated several arbitration disputes related to broadcasting rights. He was appointed by a presidential decree as board member to the Supreme Council of Media He contributed to the draft of the new Media law and the draft of several regulations issued by the Supreme Council of Media. He recently advised digital media companies on their attempts to comply with Media regulations.
