On Thursday, July 18, CNBC cited sources claiming that the Department of Justice (DOJ) is ready to sue to block the Sprint/T-Mobile merger if the companies do not settle next week, Reuters reported.
The companies have been in talks for weeks discussing selling Sprint’s Boost Mobile company to Dish Network, but have gotten held up in negotiations concerning who could buy the assets if they are again sold in the future.
The companies have also told a court that they are willing to delay closing the deal until after a lawsuit brought by a group of US state attorneys general to block the merger.
Reuters stated it was unable to get responses from either of the companies or from the DOJ.
