US: Shearman & Sterling adds Paul Weiss prosecutor

Shearman & Sterling has hired Adam Schwartz away from Paul Weiss to serve as a litigation partner in its Washington office.

Schwartz, a former federal prosecutor, joined Paul Weiss as an associate in 2014 and became of counsel at the firm. He has worked in the US Attorney’s offices in both the District of Columbia and in the Eastern District of Virginia.

He has trial and investigative experience representing corporations and individuals in a range of white-collar criminal, congressional, regulatory and internal investigations, and litigation matters. Those include fraud, securities, commodities, antitrust, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, False Claims Act, and sanctions matters across an array of industries.

Schwartz, who is also a former member of the US Navy, said he’d worked with Shearman & Sterling’s litigators “on several complex matters in recent years and have always been impressed with the strength of this group.”
