The Competition Commission has provisionally cleared the joint venture between Alpha Flight Group and LSG Lufthansa Service Holding. The two companies supply in-flight catering to airlines. The Commission considered the venture’s effects on prices and quality for long-haul and short-haul carriers, flights leaving from different airports, and premium versus economy passengers. Long-haul airlines out of Heathrow Airport posed an especial concern for the Commission, who ultimately decided that the presence of rival DHL was adequate to preserve competition for in-flight catering.
