India: FMC wins approval for Dupont acquisition

The Competition Commission of India has granted FMC Corporation approval to buy a significant percentage of Dupont’s Crop Protection business.

FMC and Dupont signed a definitive agreement in March for the acquisition which is part of Dupont’s divestiture program to comply with a European Commission (EC) ruling.

The EC ruled that for Dupont to merge with Dow Chemical Company, it needed to divest several key divisions of the company.

FMC will acquire DuPont’s global chewing pest insecticide portfolio, its global cereal broadleaf herbicides, and substantially all of DuPont’s global crop protection R&D capabilities. In exchange, DuPont will acquire FMC’s Health and Nutrition segment and receive US$1.2 billion in cash.
