The European Commission website has announced the closure of an antitrust investigation into a Fox unit and Netherlands-based Ziggo Sport regarding European sports rights in 2020. The investigation was initiated two years ago with premises raids.
According to Reuters, the EU competition enforcer stated in 2018 it had conducted raids on companies in multiple EU countries involved in distributing media and related rights for various sports events and broadcasting. The companies were not named.

Fox Networks Group and Ziggo Sport have announced their cooperation with the EU watchdog. Fox Networks Group is an operating unit of 21st Century Fox owned by Rupert Murdoch, while Ziggo Sport is a Netherlands-based broadcaster owned by Liberty Global and Vodafone.
“This case has been administratively closed,” the Commission said on its website without providing details.
