Chile’s Competition Defense Tribunal has released a new batch of e-mails, which involve wholesale distributor Dipac in one of the largest price-fixing cases of recent years. According to information obtained by La Tercera, the e-mails detail the close monitoring performed by SCA of its own and its competitors prices.
One of the released e-mails read: “Today SMU had a price increase by CMPC. I attach a summary of each product, both of weekday prices and today’s, sent by Marcela Droguett of La Serena, uestra Unimarc La Recova. In summary, the increase in tissues is 6%,in towelettes 7%, napkins 7% and some facial tissues 7%”.
The new information also confirm direct communication between Dipac’s executives and SCA, with at least one e-mail being exchanged by executives Eduardo Hola and Eduardo Marambio in 2011. The e-mail is part of a chain begun by Dipac’s deputy CEO Eduardo Helfmann, seriously compromising the company.
