Australian Regulator OKs RV Rental Merger

Australia’s competition regulator has approved a merger between campervan rental companies Tourism Holdings and Apollo Tourism & Leisure.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission gave the green light as the firms agreed to sell off some assets. New Zealand’s regulator approved the deal last week. It has cleared the last major hurdle to completing the merger

“While there remain other conditions to the proposed merger to be satisfied, clearance from the New Zealand and Australian competition regulators were considered the most significant,” Tourism Holdings‘s chair Cathy Quinn said.

The deal still requires approval of Apollo’s shareholders. Tourism Holdings is the world’s largest holiday vehicle rental supplier, operating various rental brands in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom

Apollo operates in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK and Ireland.
