Competition defense in the Andes region is, so far, a work in progress. The debates regarding the reach, powers and capabilities of regulators throughout the region echo the great debates of the past, while also attempting to adapt to unique characteristics that make the region a constant challenge for lawmakers and academics dedicated to promoting the spread of Competition.

In the following article, Dr. Francisco Marcos offers his assessment on the proposed amendment of Peru’s Competition Act of 2012, which has recently been brought under review by authorities seeking further reforms.
